MindMint Image Contest 2024
The image contest has happened again! Look at the interesting images that we received and vote on your favourite one!
How to participate in the image contest?
Step 1
Create an image that sums up or shares something significant about your research or PhD life. This image can be a photograph, a digital artwork, a painting, etc., as long as you created it.
The images can be created with either of the following two themes in mind:
-
An image about your PhD research or some relevant aspect of it: your PhD in an image.
-
An image that speaks about your PhD life experience (not restricted to the experience of corona times).
Note that these two themes are only divided for purposes of providing inspiration as all participating images will be judged as part of the same category in the competition for the prizes.
Step 2
Send your creation - including your name, email address, the title, and a short description (max 50 words) - to our email address mindmint@rug.nl. Please see the more extensive ‘rules and guidelines’ described on our website before submitting.
Deadline
Participants can submit their entries between the 21st of March and the 16th of May (deadline closes at 23:59 hrs CET) by sending their materials (image and text document) to our email mindmint@rug.nl
Below, you can find some suitable examples from other image contests. Cartoons or other creations are also allowed, but not shown as examples.
Other rules and guidelines for participants
-
Only active PhDs of the University of Groningen can participate.
-
All images must be original work created by the participants. Modifications such as editing, augmenting, adjusting, etc., of the pieces are allowed, as are collages, as long as the final image is not composed of only third party content.
-
If third party materials are used for the creation of the image, the participant must make sure to either use open source material (e.g. Creative Commons) or to have the explicit authorization to use the graphic materials by the owners of the rights. The photo must not infringe upon the trademark, copyright, moral rights, intellectual rights, or rights of privacy of any entity or person.
-
Each submitted entry needs to include, aside from the image, a text document specifying the title of the entry, the name and email address of the participant, and a brief description of the image (maximum 50 words).
-
Format: Digital with no constraints on the size or shape of the image. However, the image should be submitted in either/or png/jpg image format.
-
Entries not submitted through the proper channels will not be taken into consideration.
-
Submissions will not be accepted once the deadline lapses.
-
Entries will be evaluated by the MindMint Committee and a special jury of experts created for the event. All decisions made by the jury are final.
-
In addition to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize, there will also be an audience prize. This will be decided via a two week-long open vote on this webpage.
Disclaimers
-
The prizes must be collected by the winner and are non transferable.
-
The winner will be contacted via the email address provided during entry. If no response is received after ten business days, a new winner will be selected and the previous winner will forfeit all rights to the prize.
-
The committee reserves the right to disqualify any entry that is deemed inappropriate or does not conform to stated contest rules.
-
By entering the contest, entrants agree to follow the rules and guidelines of the competition and consent that images submitted can be shared by the Committee in MindMint and Gopher’s social media channels.
How to vote for the image contest?
